This house in Cornwall demonstrates both the beauty of a 'green' roof and its benefits in terms of obtaining planning consent.
The property is the work the exceptional CSA Architects. Their clients commissioned them to design a new dwelling in the grounds of their existing home.
Visual impact was always a key issue here, which is why CSA conceived two vegetation-covered 'green' barrel roofs. These allow the house to blend into the surrounding landscape. They also help to insulate it, contributing to a low carbon footprint.
